Summary of position
To support each service user to remain living in their own homes for as long as they require.
To provide each service user with a high quality of care, that is respectful, dignified and encourages independence whilst adhering to the service users care and support plan. Document and report all relevant service user care information.

General

To work within the Policies & Procedures of IOS Care.
To work in a way that promotes the independence, privacy, dignity and choice of service users and to support their social, cultural and religious needs at all times.
To maintain confidentiality at all times, adhering to IOS Care policy on confidentiality.
To be aware at all times of Health & Safety requirements and report any concerns to immediately.
To pay special attention to the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Children and Whistle Blowing policies and the safe administration of medication policy and act accordingly on any concerns or incidents.
To work in a way that promotes equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
Responsibilities / Tasks
To work within individual Service User’s homes and in the community as appropriate to the Service User’s needs and package of care being delivered.
To ensure that the care provided is in line with the Service Delivery Plan and associated Risk Assessments.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and safety by using protective clothing, waste bags etc. as appropriate.
To support Service users with all aspects of their personal care, including
• Showering and bathing
• Dressing and grooming
• Toileting and incontinence
• Teeth and dentures

To support Service Users with all aspects of medication, including
• Administration
• Prompting
• Reminding
• Communicating with the pharmacy and pick up
• Encouragement

To support Service users with all aspects of their meal preparation, including;
• Cooking and re-heating
• Preparing and serving of meals
• Preparing and clearing the table
• Safe storage and infection control
• Communicating with the service user and disposing of unsafe food.

To support Service users with home management, including;
• Hoovering and sweeping;
• Washing and storing the dishes;
• Washing clothes and hanging them up;
• Making beds and changing the lining;
• Dusting and general tidying;

To record clear and accurate records
To report any concerns, problems or changes to the Care Co-ordinator or Registered Manager immediately.
To provide a safe and reliable service ensuring that you arrive on time and provide the care outlined in the Service Delivery Plan and that you inform the Care Co-ordinator of any lateness or absences such as sickness, holidays etc.
Any reasonable task identified by the Registered Manager / Care Co-ordinator

Training & Personal Development
You must attend and pass all mandatory training to comply with CIW requirements and any other identified training to meet the needs of the Service User.
You must attend quarterly staff meetings, supervision once every 3 months as arranged by the Care Co-ordinator and participate in an annual appraisal.
