Post No. POSN005067 - Assistant Team Manager - Pathways Team One
18.5 hours a week (Wednesday PM/Thursday and Friday)
Pathways Team One is looking for a Permanent, Part-Time Assistant Team Manager.
The post would be ideal for someone ready to take on their first ATM role, or for someone who is already an ATM, but looking for an opportunity to gain experience with the Pathways Service.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people who are looked after and between the ages of 0 - 18. Children who are on a Care Order and young people (16/17 years old) who are homeless.
The Teams have the statutory responsibility of ensuring that children who are looked after have their needs met and that they are being supported in line with the corporate parenting strategy.
The Pathways Service is comprised of four teams and you will be joining Pathways Team one. The four teams, include, team managers, assistant team managers, social workers, young person’s advisors and social work assistants. We work with children and young people up to the age of 25 and their families. We have a stable workforce, supervision is regular and the opportunities for career development and training are excellent. Our caseloads are comparatively low and internally we have access to a dedicated Mentoring and Consultation team, and access to support via our family support service, and MyST Teams. There are also a number of agencies operating locally who work with the young people and their families to improve their lives.
The team is very steady and extremely supportive of each other. As such we need people who can work with change, can offer leadership and support to the whole team, and have the expertise to support the team manager and the duty process. In addition, you will be expected to manage a small caseload and supervise non-qualified staff within the team. There is also an expectation that you will take a lead on wider initiatives, including participation in project groups and forums, to inform better practice within the team. The successful candidate will therefore need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the issues facing Children Looked After.
You will have a social work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW) with significant post qualifying experience and have excellent skills in child protection and assessment. You will need to be able to demonstrate good written and spoken communication skills and the ability to forge good working relationships with children, families and professionals.
You must be registered with Social Care Wales.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (formerly CRB).
Closing Date:24/06/2026
Interview Date: to be confirmed.
