QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT TRAINING
ESSENTIAL
Relevant Social Work qualification in accordance with the Social Care Wales Qualifications Framework
A Recognised AMHP Mental Health Act Qualification or the ability and the skills to complete an AMHP course and qualify within two years of commencing the post.
Registered with the Care Council for Wales as a Social Worker
Consolidation Qualification (Consolidation - First Three Years in Practice) (or corresponding experience)

Practice Educator Qualification
Best Interest Assessor (BIA) Qualification

Experience of working in a team
Experience of working directly with adults/children/young people and families
Experience of assessing needs and formulating a care plan

Experience of community care work with adults and their carers
Experience of working to various legislations

Experience of working closely with the statutory and non-statutory sector

SKILLS AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

Able to respond swiftly and effectively to referrals and priorities appropriately.
The ability to undertake social assessments and produce care plans.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, care management skills, understanding of good social work practice.
The ability to use computer information system in relation with the Service's needs.
Able to receive supervision and guidance effectively for the benefit of the service and personal development.
A diverse skills base based on experience of working with individuals who use the children and families services.

Court work skills.
Knowledge about the mental health field - e.g. developments in the field, the part funding plays in providing services.
Knowledge about the Social Services and Well-being Act 2014, Mental Health Measure Wales 2010 and the Mental Health Act 1983.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
Listening and Speaking - Higher Level
Able to follow a conversation or discussion through the medium of Welsh and English on a professional level and discuss general day to day topics in the field in order to present information and express opinions. Able to give a pre-prepared presentation and respond to any comments and questions on it in Welsh or English.
Reading and Understanding - Higher Level
Able to understand standard written Welsh and English; both formal and informal. Able to gather information from various sources such as letters, reports, articles through the medium of Welsh and English in order to fulfil the post.
Writing - Higher Level
Present written information confidently by letter, more detailed and technical report formats, and respond to written requests conveying information, ideas and opinion in Welsh and English (help is available to check the work).
