Activity Support Worker (Casual)
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to enjoy new experiences and build confidence within their local communities? We are looking for caring and motivated individuals to join us as casual Activity Support Workers, helping to make a meaningful difference to families across Pembrokeshire.
About the role
These casual positions support children and young people up to the age of 18 who have a learning or physical disability. You will help widen their opportunities, promote personal development and encourage participation in leisure and community activities on an inclusive basis.
Your role will be hands‑on, rewarding and varied, with every shift offering the chance to create positive experiences for children and provide valuable support to their families.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting children and young people to take part in activities within their community
- Promoting their safety, wellbeing and enjoyment at all times
- Building trusting relationships with families and professionals
- Responding calmly and positively to challenging behaviour
- Providing personal care where required
- Working flexibly after school, evenings and weekends
- Following all Pembrokeshire County Council policies and procedures
What we’re looking for
NVQ in Health and Social Care is preferable, but not essential
- Experience is an advantage, though full induction and training will be provided
- Ability to cope positively with challenging behaviour
- A positive, proactive attitude and excellent people skills
- A full driving licence and access to a car
- Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development
- Ability to speak Welsh is an advantage
