Childminder
As a registered Childminder, you’ll provide childcare for children under the age of 12 for more than two hours a day, within your own home.
Being a Childminder
You’ll be self-employed and responsible for running your own business, this includes meeting legal requirements. You'll need to be motivated and expected to prepare paperwork.
You'll provide a safe, fun and stimulating environment and support children’s play, learning and development through activities and experiences.
Getting started as a Childminder
You will be responsible for registration with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), complete a DBS check and take out insurance. Some local authorities offer start-up grants to help set up your childminding business and further guidance is available at PACEY.
