Have you done something unique or innovative that’s made a real difference to the lives of the people you support or your workforce?

Or do you know someone who works or volunteers in care who deserves to be recognised for the fantastic work they do? If so, we want to hear from you!

Social Care Wales are now welcoming entries and nominations for the 2026 Accolades, the annual awards that recognise, celebrate and share excellent social care, social work, childcare, play and early years in Wales.

So, if you’re a team, group or organisation in the public, private, voluntary or co-operative sectors in Wales, let us know about your achievements and you could be in with a chance of winning a prestigious Accolade.

We’re also looking to celebrate those who work or volunteer in social care, social work or childcare, play and early years in Wales who make a positive difference to people’s lives through the care and support they provide.

We’re asking colleagues, employers, people using care and support or their carers, family and friends to nominate any workers or volunteers they would like to see recognised with an Accolade.

Categories

This year, there are seven categories – four for teams, projects and organisations, and three for workers and volunteers.

The categories for groups, projects and organisations are:

  • Building bright futures for children and families
  • Effective use of digital and technology
  • Innovative ways of recruiting and retaining the workforce
  • Supporting people to live the life that matters to them.

The categories for workers and volunteers are:

  • Inspirational leadership award
  • Learner of the year award
  • WeCare Wales award.

Last year's WeCare Wales award

Last year’s WeCare Wales winner was Sarah Sharpe, a dedicated Registered Childminder at Poppins Daycare in the Vale of Glamorgan. Nominated by childminder Lee Walker-Metzelaar.

Sarah’s passion and dedication shines through in her work as a childminder. Lee said

Sarah has “all the time in the world” for the children she cares for.

If this sounds like one of your colleagues or employees don’t forget to nominate. The closing date for entries and nominations is 5pm on 10 November 2025.
