We are looking for a caring and compassionate female to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living service in Risca. This is a 30 hour, permanent position including an additional 8 hour sleep in as extra. This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends, and sleep in shifts as part of a rolling rota. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with sleeps ins as extra. *** Due to the needs of the individuals we support in this service the post holder for this role is required to be female***

What is the role?
This service is the home of 4 loving and social ladies with learning disabilities. You will be working with these incredible individuals to support with day-to-day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities and knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support will be required.
The service promotes the importance of the “do with and not do for” approach and has had a very positive impact on these incredible individuals.

Duties for this role are:
to develop and maintain links/relationships with families/friends and networks within their community To support people to manage the practicalities of daily living and to access other supports in the community Budgeting, income maximisation and managing personal finances Report maintenance or health and safety issues to relevant organisations access appropriate health/advocacy/welfare benefit/advice services Offer emotional support to the people we support. There is an element of Lone Working Working unsociable hours including mornings / afternoons / evenings and Sleep-In’s Responsible for administering medication Physically able to support individuals with personal care. Able to cope with the physical and mental demands of working with people with complex Health and Physical needs. Ability to respond to the emotional, psychological, social, spiritual and physical needs of the people General cleaning of the property (e.g. mopping floors, cleaning baths/sinks, ironing, laundry, cleaning surfaces etc.)
What skills and experience do you need?
A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;
A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player
