The team is made up of Social Workers, and support workers. We undertake assessments with individuals who misuse substances: commission outcome-focussed care and support packages and undertake direct work with individuals. We are committed to Strengths-Based Social Work Practice and working collaboratively with individuals to reduce harmful substance misuse and maximise their independence.
This new and innovative post will lead on assessing those individuals being referred to CADT and the Vale Alcohol and Drug Team where it has been provisionally identified by other substance misuse services that the recommended service pathway to support them to achieve their identified outcome is to attend a specialist residential rehabilitation centre.
The postholder will be required to work across both Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan as the post is a new development being commissioned by the local Area Planning Board for substance misuse. The postholder will also be expected to collate information and benchmark with other areas what the expected need for such specialist treatment services is across the local area.

What We Are Looking For From You1.Experience of working with individuals with substance misuse issues.
2.Commitment to excellent practice with individuals, families, Carers and Communities.
3.Assessment skills and a clear understanding of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014.
4.Confidence and knowledge in operating within the Mental Capacity Act legal framework.
5.Experience of supporting colleagues and/or students and a willingness to actively work in a supportive way in both teams and on a one to one basis.
6.Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of citizens is an expectation of all who work in the service area.
7.The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.
