We are looking for a passionate and positive individual to join our dedicated team of Care Workers in our Extra Care service in Burry Port.
We have 2 x 21 part time, permanent positions available.
This service operates 24/7, requiring flexibility with shifts, including:
• Day shifts can vary depending on the rota from: 7am -2pm, 7am – 11am, 2pm – 9pm, 5pm – 8pm • Day Centre shifts: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm • Waking night shifts: 9:30 pm – 7:30 am (additional £12.15 + 20%) • Sleep-in shifts: In addition to day shifts (additional £62.64 per shift)

What is the role?
This is a 38-bed service split between sheltered and care accommodation with a day centre. The tenants that are supported here have individual personalities and different support needs including some with dementia.
As an Extra Care service, the individuals we support here are 55+and live in their own self-contained flat.
As a Care Worker you will take a person-centred approach with our valued residents to ensure they are living their life to the fullest. You will support with day-to-day independence, enhance their various skills and support them with daily activities as well as providing emotional support and personal care.

You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:
Medication administration Cooking skills and other household skills Accessing the community and supporting to local groups Supporting with individuals’ hobbies and activities Being a team player and having good communication skills Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard Supporting individuals to budget finances Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence. Taking the people we support out and about therefore a full driving licence is preferable Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working Supporting Individuals with their individual needs It is important you are committed and able to commit to the shift patterns in this service.
What skills and experience do you need?
A background of working with older people with dementia is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are;
A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player For full details of the role and skills required please see the Job Description attached.
