Help our little ones bloom ?
Flowering Shrubs is a growing, family-run childcare organisation caring for children from 9 months to school age across three Cardiff settings – our private nursery in Cyncoed and our Flying Start settings in Trelai and Ely. We’re looking for enthusiastic, qualified practitioners to join our leadership teams as Assistant Managers.
Whether you’re an experienced Room Leader ready for your next step, or an established leader looking for flexible hours that fit around your life, this is a role where you can make a real difference.
About the role
Working alongside the Setting Manager, you’ll help lead a happy, child-led setting where play, curiosity and the outdoors come first. You will:
- Support the day-to-day running of the setting and deputise for the Manager when needed
- Lead, mentor and inspire practitioners, modelling high-quality, child-centred practice
- Help plan and evaluate play and learning in line with the Curriculum for Wales and ECPLC (Early Childhood Play, Learning and Care) framework
- Oversee observations, next steps and progress tracking with your team
- Promote safeguarding, health and wellbeing, and help keep us meeting CIW National Minimum Standards (and Flying Start guidance at Trelai and Ely)
- Build warm, trusting relationships with families and partner agencies
- Celebrate and grow our bilingual Welsh/English approach
About you
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Learning and Development (or equivalent recognised in Wales) – Level 5 or working towards it is desirable
- Experience in an early years setting, ideally in a senior or room-leader role
- A genuine passion for child-led learning and outdoor play
- Confident, organised and a natural team player
- Good knowledge of safeguarding and CIW requirements
- Welsh language skills are welcome but not essential
What we offer
- Full-time or part-time hours to suit you
- Ongoing training and funded professional development, including support towards Level 5
- A supportive leadership team led by a QTS-qualified Director
- Childcare discount
- Paid holidays and workplace pension
- The chance to grow with a forward-thinking, expanding organisation
