We are recruiting a Senior Social Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.Working hours: 37 hours (08:30 - 17:00 Monday - Thursday, 08:30 - 16:30 Friday)

Location: The successful candidate will be able to choose their base in either Caerphilly or Rhymney, but will be expected to travel to and support both teams.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Mental Health Team.
We pay an attractive salary of £40,221 - £43,421 and offer access to training and development opportunities.This post attracts a Market Supplement of £2,863 per annum, in addition to the annual salary, which will be paid in 12 monthly instalments.Are you an experienced Senior Practitioner/Approved Mental Health Professional looking to develop your career in the management field? If so, we would welcome an application from you to join our two well-established and supportive Community Mental Health Teams covering the whole of the Caerphilly County Borough.
This rewarding role will include supervision of staff, lead social work practice learning and development and quality assurance within the team, supporting Team Managers to manage and prioritise referrals, formulating collaborative working with health and wider partners e.g. police, prison services. You will ensure defensible decision making alongside risk enablement, manage a small complex caseload as required and undertake the AMHP role.
You will have access to regular supervision which empowers you to make evidence informed professional judgements and will have a network of support to transition you into this exciting role. You will be given the freedom to practice in a truly strength-based way which recognises the importance of prevention.
You will maintain your professional registration with Social Care Wales and be committed to promoting social justice and challenging inequality and discrimination in all forms.
For the role, we ask that you have:
- A Diploma / Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification and the Approved Mental Heath Professional Award
- An excellent working knowledge of all the key legislative frameworks for Mental Health including the Mental Health Act, Social Services Wellbeing Act and Mental Health Measure (Wales).
- Experience of Approved Mental Health Practitioner Practice

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all successful applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).
The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.
