Early Years Lecturer

After working as a childminder for 13 years, Karen decided to use her knowledge and understanding to progress and become a lecturer at Gower College. She lectures in Childcare and Health and Social Care to help inspire the next generation of social workers, carers and child carers.


Question 1: Is your role flexible?

“Absolutely, I worked part time for the last seven years so I could raise my family. I’ve been working full time since September 2018.”

Question 2: What’s the most rewarding part of your role?

“I get a huge buzz from the students when they achieve their goals.”

Question 3: What makes a good Lecturer?

“Experience. I’ve got first-hand experience working in care and early years, so they trust me.”
